The popular crime books in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo collection have been in the news all over again today, including on our jewellery site. Their amazing success was never known by its Swedish writer, Stieg Larsson, who died in 2004 before his trilogy was released.
It has been announced that James Bond actor Daniel Craig will take the leading role in the usa variant of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. He is also to be the male lead in adaptations of the other two stories that wrap up Stieg Larsson’s award-winning Millennium trilogy. This seems to have placed other 007 roles for him on hold. Newbie Rooney Mala is cast as Lisbeth Salander, the girl with the tattoo, in the English language production, directed by David Fincher. Along with tattoos, the Salander character is renowned for modern jewellery and body piercings.
The Swedish edition of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo earned £2.2m in great britain and $10.1m (£6.2m) in the usa. The Larsson estate is scheduled to be boosted by enormous amounts when the US variants of the novels are made available with the first due out in December.
Contemporary Jewellery Site Has Dragons
While Ola Gorie’s jewellery site can be relied on to develop dragons, there is certainly disappointment for the books’ admirers who had been told there is also a 4th manuscript for another novel. But this morning, Larsson’s principle partner of 30 years told BBC Radio 4’s Woman’s Hour there was very little truth in reports that Larsson had left a further book on his laptop. She said since he had penned only roughly 200 pages, there seems to be insufficient to shape another novel, only the beginning. And Larsson would write scenarios spontaneously which would only be linked further on. The trilogy has sold 27million copies.
Stieg Larsson died of a heart attack aged 50 in 2004. In spite of the couple being with each other for 30 years, Gabrielsson was not eligible for anything from his estate under Swedish law, since they were not married and there was no valid will. She has been in a legal battle for a number of years with his father and brother, who inherited Larsson’s estate.
Ola Gorie’s Maeshowe dragon which features on this jewellery site would make a terrific tattoo for Lisbeth Salander, or for modern jewelry, of which she wears plenty. There is a necklace, earrings, brooch and charm: all based on the Viking production of graffiti etched on a tomb wall in Orkney. Very appropriate for a Viking girl from Sweden.
